Strand Voyages are proud to have been appointed by Trinity House, the General Lighthouse Authority for England, Wales and the Channel Isles, as agents for coastal passenger voyages on their flagship, THV Patricia.

THE VESSEL
The Patricia is a purpose built aid to navigation tender of 2,500 tons with a work programme which requires her to cover the English and Welsh coast, maintaining buoys, servicing lighthouses and lightships and, on occasion dealing with ship wrecks that are a danger to navigation.

Passengers are invited to join the vessel while she carries out her work. They will be accommodated in air-conditioned, en-suite double bedded cabins and will have exclusive use of their passenger dining and sitting rooms.

The accommodation is of a high standard and has been used in the past by Trinity House Board members and even by members of the Royal Family. HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh is Master of the Corporation of Trinity House and he is an active participant in the work of the organisation.

THE EXPERIENCE
This is an ideal chance to relax and get away from it all, to watch the ship at work, possibly to visit those offshore lighthouses which are usually just a dot on the horizon, or to view the coast from a different perspective. There may well be opportunities to see a wide array of bird and sea life.

A dedicated Passenger Chef provides a cooked or continental breakfast, a three-course light lunch and a set menu for dinner (vegetarian options are offered). A selection of quality wines is available to complement the high standard of cuisine.

THE VOYAGES
The voyages are available in durations of one, two or three weeks, normally commencing on a Wednesday. The itinerary indicates the anticipated sailing dates and area of operation of Patricia, but it must be stressed that the ship’s work schedule is subject to alteration at very short notice. Depending upon the positioning of the vessel, embarkation and disembarkation will take place at various ports around the coast of England and Wales, including Harwich, Southampton and Swansea.

Whilst every effort will be made to keep to the listed dates and embarkation/disembarkation areas, we must emphasise this may not always be possible – thus diversions to different parts of the coast may and do occur. It is possible that you could have less than a week’s notice of the actual port of embarkation. It should be noted that on many voyages embarkation and disembarkation might not take place in the same port.
